UKPGx Network Virtual Workshop : Polygenic Risk Scores - Current Status and Future Utility

Wednesday 17 February 2021

The UK Pharmacogenetics & Stratified Medicine Network held our first Virtual Workshop in February 2021 – “Polygenic Risk Scores: Current Status and Future Utility”. The event was held online and hosted by Professor Sir Munir Pirmohamed.

The first session included talks on genetic profiling for prediction of Alzheimer’s disease, the impact of PRS on insurance, and the clinical utility of PRS.

The afternoon session saw participants split into breakout groups to discuss:

1. How can we further develop the utility of PRS?

2. What will be the challenges and opportunities of implementing PRS into clinical practice?

3. Ethical issues associated with the use of PRS.

Following these discussions, rapporteurs from each group presented their conclusions.

Recorded presentations from the workshop will be available soon. Please direct any enquiries to Nathan Elsdon This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
